Ravi Shankar (1920-2012), Legendary Sitar Player

Musician and composer Pandit Ravi Shankar has died at the age of 92. He was known for teaching George Harrison of the Beatles how to play the sitar and for bringing Indian music to the West. According to a statement by the Ravi Shankar Foundation and East Meets West Music, he passed away on December 11, 2012 near his home in Southern California due to ongoing medical issues. The New York Times has posted his obituary online.
