‘PBS Game/Show’ Explores Whether Video Games Can Make People More Empathetic
PBS Game/Show host Jamin Warren explores whether video games can make people more empathetic in the latest video in the series. Warren uses the term “empathy games” to stand for anything that intentionally tries to evoke emotion and breed empathy while talking about games like Papers, Please.
Papers, Please opened the player’s eyes to the realities of being a border patrol officer, Papo & Yo put players in the shoes of an abused child, and Cart Life put a burden on players to just survive everyday life. These games that try to impart some sort of knowledge of another person’s situation are known as Empathy Games, and they may be the future of how we get to know each other.
