‘Nonna Marijuana’, 91-Year Old Woman and Her Daughter Demonstrate How to Cook With Cannabis Butter
The inaugural episode of the Munchies series “Bong Appetit” features Aurora Liveroni aka Nonna Marijuana, a 91-year old woman living somewhere in Northern California who, along with her daughter Valerie, creates masterful Italian dishes using cannabis butter made from her own special recipe. Nonna tells host Matt Zimbric that she does not partake in any of her “products” but believes in the use of marijuana as a valid alternative to prescription medication. Valerie, who is on the board of the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana (WAMM), is a big part of why Nonna began cooking with cannibis.
I had about 75 years of experience in the kitchen before I ever decided to experiment with what I call “nature’s medicinal leaf.” I only started cooking with medical marijuana five years ago. Now I use marijuana as an ingredient in order to help those who are ill and need it to heal themselves, like my daughter Valerie, who uses medical marijuana to control her grand mal seizures.
After a tour through the farm and an informative lesson on leaf juicing, they get down to cooking dinner which consists of chicken cacciatore and potato gnocchi made with Nonna’s special butter.
Using buds grown by her own daughter, Nonna teaches Matt a foolproof method for infusing cannabis into butter, then guides him through preparing Chicken “Pot-cciatore” and gnocchi in ganja butter. Along the way, she explains how and why she recommends medical marijuana to those in need—without ever getting high on her own supply. Matt, on the other hand, may regret going back for seconds.
In 2009, Nonna created a YouTube video for WAMM during which she demonstrates how to make Medical Marijuana Butter-Leaf Flour .
Our Nonna, who has been cooking Italian dishes for over 70 years, teaches us how to prepare Medical Marijuana Butter-Leaf Flour. With this flour you can then bake the best Medicinal Cannabis brownies or cookies or any other dish.
