NASA Releases Simulated Flyby Animations of Pluto’s Mountains and Plains Taken From New Horizons Images
NASA recently released simulated flyby animations of Pluto’s Norgay Mountains (named for Tenzing Norgay, one of the first people to summit Mount Everest) and Sputnik Plains (named for Sputnik, the first artificial satellite launched into orbit.) The animated video was created using images taken by the New Horizons probe, which recently made a historic flyby of Pluto and has been sending back new images and data about the dwarf planet ever since.
