‘Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter’, A Film About a Japanese Woman Searching for Treasure in North Dakota
Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter is a new film created by filmmaking duo The Zellner Brothers that stars Rinko Kikuchi as a Japanese office worker who travels to North Dakota with her pet rabbit in search of treasure upon mistaking a popular film for a documentary. The film, which is distributed by Amplify Releasing, opened in theaters on March 20, 2015. The film is based on the real life story of Takako Konishi, who traveled to (and died in) Fargo upon viewing the film of the same name.
