Is There Any Way to Safely Catch a Bullet by Hand? by xkcd

In the latest edition of what if?, xkcd takes on the hypothetical question “Is there any way to fire a gun so that the bullet flies through the air and can then be safely caught by hand?” According to xkcd, you could indeed catch a bullet if it was fired directly up and you were located at the exact spot where it slows to a stop before falling back to earth (though this scenario would be rather difficult to arrange).
