George Hotz (also known as geohot), who at 17 was the first person to unlock the iPhone for any carrier, has built his own self-driving car that teaches itself to drive like a human. Hotz’s car, an adapted Acura called the Comma.ai, using an onboard laser system, cameras, and software written by Hotz to adapt how the car operates based on the experience of a human driving it.
A profile in Bloomberg Business looks at how Hotz, now 26, came to the decision to focus his attention on self-driving cars, the process he went through to build the Comma.ai, and his plans for the future.
