Grandfather Builds an Amazing Three-Story, 40-Foot-Tall Treehouse in Backyard for His Family
Attleboro, Massachusetts-based contractor Jay Hewitt built an amazing 3-story, 40-foot-tall treehouse in the backyard for his 5-year-old grandson and 4-year-old granddaughter to play in. The entrance to his advanced treehouse is accessed by climbing a flight of stairs and then crossing a beautiful deck. The Sun Chronicle visited Hewitt and his massive treehouse in Attleboro and asked the creator a few questions. Jay currently plans on adding onto the treehouse next season.
“I had a treehouse when I was a kid, but it was basically a 4-by-8 sheet of plywood,” said Hewitt, 59, a licensed contractor and member of the Attleboro Planning Board. “I never dreamed that a treehouse would be anything like this.”
Hewitt says the treehouse, supported by four maple trees behind his home on Marbury Drive, is a work in progress. He’s planning to finish off the interior this fall. (read more)
