The Panasonic Evolta robot will compete this October in its own version of the Ironman World Championship Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. The annual event requires competitors to complete 2.4 miles of swimming, 26.2 miles of running, and 112 miles of bicycling. Human competitors have just 17 hours to complete the triathlon, but the diminutive Evolta (at 6.7″ in height) will have 1 week. Designed by Tomotaka Takahashi of Robogarage, the Evolta has completed three “World Challenges” so far, including crossing the Grand Canyon on a rope in less than 7 hours and taking part in the 24 hour LeMans race.
