DOMA & Prop. 8 Rulings Celebrated at San Francisco’s City Hall
Photographer Margot Duane was on hand at San Francisco, California’s City Hall this morning as the news broke that the federal law known as the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) had been ruled unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court and that they dismissed an appeal in California’s Proposition 8 case (which had banned same-sex marriages in California). The rulings are considered a big victory for the rights of gays and lesbians. In a moment of perfect timing, the city’s big Pride festivities start this weekend, June 29th and 30th.
