Birdsnap, A New Birdwatching App That Uses Computer Vision and Learning to Identify Birds
Birdsnap is a new birdwatching app for iOS that uses computer vision and machine learning to identify birds. The app can identify 500 different North American bird species from user-uploaded photos. The accompanying Birdsnap website features an interactive “Tree of Life” and 50,000 bird images. Birdsnap is available from the iTunes store. It was created by researchers at Columbia University and the University of Maryland.
