A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Unmade Paul Reubens Version of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’
Before the 1988 version of the film Who Framed Roger Rabbit, there was an earlier attempt at adapting Gary K. Wolf’s novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit? by Disney in 1983. Animation tests for this version with Paul Reubens, famous for portraying Pee Wee Herman, in the role of Roger Rabbit surfaced online a few years ago, but a recently uploaded clip has a behind-the-scenes featurette with the film’s animator Mike Giaimo, producer Marc Sturdivant, and animation director Darrell Van Citters discussing their version of the film and the technical processes involved in combining live-action and animated characters.
