The latest video by Numberphile pays a visit to the Pixar Animation campus in Emeryville, California to speak to the company’s Research Group head Tony DeRose about the geometry that drives the studio’s iconic character design.

My particular area of interest is in geometric modelling — creating shapes of things. That problem comes up a lot here, because we have characters with pretty complicated shapes.
