Boat-Towing Pickup Truck Makes a Nerve Wracking Trip Across Water on a Tiny Wooden Bridge
A pickup truck carrying a couple of canoes on top and towing a boat behind it made its way across a tiny wooden bridge that appeared much more rickety than it was. While the trip seemed to be incredibly nerve wracking, the boards held and truck successfully crossed. Commenter David Beppler offered a viable explanation from an engineering standpoint.
Wood has a higher compression ration than steel. The Steel cables are what hold the bridge together. I do not know why people are amazed by this video. If a cable snaps they will get wet. Otherwise it is fine. The Cable Test is most likely around 2 tons, with 4 cables that would equal out easily.
