A Torrent of Slush and Ice Suddenly Flowing Down a New Hampshire River
On March 6, 2011, Alex Geller captured a dramatic ice flow coursing down the partially frozen Ammonoosuc River in New Hampshire. According to Geller, the slushy torrent was caused by a break in an ice dam upstream. Ice flows are not uncommon in rivers along northern sections of the United States; a similar flow occurred on the very same day in the Great Brook in Vermont.
