Matt Groening Named Several Characters From The Simpsons After Streets in Portland

Matt Groening grew up in Portland, OR and he named several of the characters from The Simpsons after streets in Portland as a tribute to his hometown. This is one of the things he talks about in the recent documentary “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special – In 3-D! On Ice!” by Morgan Spurlock
