Batter Blaster’s Sean O’Connor Shares His Product’s Story in ‘Inventors’
In episode 2 of PBS Digital Studios’ documentary series Inventors, Sean O’Connor shares the story behind Batter Blaster, his ‘ready-to-cook pancake batter in a whipped cream can’ invention. The Inventors series is the work of filmmaker and photographer David Friedman who chronicles “the work of contemporary inventors from all walks of life.” We have previously featured the series in the post, Donald Scruggs, Inventor of the Screw-In Coffin on PBS Inventors.
Sean O’Connor’s invention sounds a bit strange at first: pancake batter in a whip cream style can. Some might be reminded of processed cheese and assume it’s full of preservatives and other chemicals. But in fact Batter Blaster is a perishable, USDA certified organic, easy way to make pancakes. But with no other refrigerated pancake batters found in supermarkets, educating customers about this new product category presents some challenges that might be insurmountable.
