Whale Fall, Lovely Puppetry & Papercuts Illustrate Whale Decomposition

The short film titled Whale Fall (after life of a whale) illustrates how a whale decomposes (surprisingly, the entire ecological process takes 50-75 years) using lovely puppetry and papercuts. Sharon Shattuck and Flora Lichtman of Sweet Fern Productions directed this film “as a compliment to Radiolab’s ‘Loops’ episode” about whale falls.

I would have learned a lot more about biology if it had been presented this beautifully to me in school.
