Onwards, A Wonderful Animated Short About Running by James Jarvis

“Onwards” is a wonderful animated short about running created by James Jarvis, an illustrator, avid runner and co-founder of Amos Toys.

The film was inspired by certain personal experiences in running – a favourite run over Blanchland moor in Northumberland, being attacked by a crow in Singapore – and also by the transcendent, almost psychedelic experience of the simple act of running.

Even though this movie was sponsored by Nike, there is no branding, marketing or even a mention of Nike in the video. In fact, the lead character does not even have shoes. Good on Nike for supporting the arts, and good on Mr. Jarvis for making fun art and toys.

Truly a fine piece of work. The music fit perfectly and added immensely to the journey. Nike seems to always dip their feet into the arts and it keeps me on my toes and in their shoes. Great post, thanks!
