Laika — the animation studio behind Coraline and ParaNorman — has released a new trailer for the upcoming stop motion animated film The Boxtrolls that sheds a little light on how the studio creates the tiny, detailed world. The film is based on the children’s novel Here Be Monsters by Alan Snow, and will hit theaters on September 26, 2014.
An orphaned boy raised by underground creatures called Boxtrolls comes up from the sewers and out of his box to save his family and the town from the evil exterminator, Archibald Snatcher.
