LookTel Money Reader is an iOS app that verbally identifies the denominations of dollars placed before the Apple device’s camera (see the video demo.) It makes it possible for blind and visually impaired people to identify the value of their dollars, which are otherwise virtually indistinguishable by touch alone (many other currency systems have bills that vary in size based upon their value.) LookTel plans to release more apps to help identify other everyday objects.
