ScrubBoard, A Device Made From a Cassette Player That Scratches Audio Tape Like Vinyl Records
Musician Jeremy Bell removed the tape head from a cassette player to create the ScrubBoard, a device that makes it possible to scratch audio tapes in a manner similar to vinyl records. Bell gives a demo of the interesting — if somewhat rough looking — instrument in a YouTube video, referring to the homemade build as the “alpha version” of the concept. The musician is currently seeking funds to build a more polished beta version.
