In his series Murmurations – Ephemeral Plastic Sculptures, French photographer Alain Delorme has created a series of photographs that, at first glance, seem to document the beautiful forms created by flocks of starlings (these flocks are also known as “murmurations”). However, closer inspection reveals the flocks to be made up of hundreds upon hundreds of plastic bags. Luckily for Mother Earth, the clouds of bags were digitally composited by Delorme. According to Delorme, he was inspired to create the series after learning about the Great Pacific garbage patch.
