Objectify This: Female Anatomy Dissected and Displayed, A Group Exhibition Featuring Female Anatomy in Art
Founder of Street Anatomy, Vanessa Ruiz, is curating Objectify This: Female Anatomy Dissected and Displayed, an upcoming group exhibition at Chicago’s Design Cloud Gallery featuring female anatomy in art. The show’s opening event is September 7, 2012 from 6 PM to 10 PM and includes anatomically themed food, music and live female burlesque performances by Vaudezilla. The show runs through September 29, 2012.
Ruiz says, “Historically, female anatomy has been represented by medical illustrations predominantly as a variation of the male form in terms of reproductive organs and surface anatomy. There are a multitude of societal, cultural, and religious reasons that have established this ideal, in addition to the fine line between female anatomy and eroticism…This show will compel viewers to question the objectivity surrounding ‘female anatomy’ and define—or re-define—their own perceptions through the art, perspectives, literature, and live burlesque performances.”
Featured artists: Fernando Vicente, Jason Levesque, Cake, Michael Reedy, Emily Evans, Danny Quirk, Pole Ka, Tristan des Limbes, Amylin Loglisci.
