Comedian Norm Macdonald offered a sincere and tearful goodbye to David Letterman during his final appearance on The Late Show. Macdonald began with a standup performance that included his retelling of a joke he heard Letterman do when Macdonald first saw him at 13 years old.

Letterman’s final Late Show will air on CBS on May 20, 2015.
