Electromechanical Replica of an 1980s Drum Machine

MR-808 is an electromechanical music robot that uses real instruments to emulate the iconic Roland TR-808 (video). Nine instruments are housed in a 10 foot wide replica of the Roland drum machine, including: bass drum, hi-hat, clap, and of course, cowbell.

The robot was featured in the music video for “Rise of the Toys” by Science Fiction Children. MR-808 was created by German musician and artist Moritz Simon Geist.
