MIT Researchers Discuss Their Miniature Self-Folding Origami Robot
The team of researchers at MIT who developed the miniature self-folding robot we wrote about recently discuss their creation in an article for MIT News. The robot is made of flat segmented plastic that responds to heat to fold itself into its final form. The tiny bot also has a built-in magnet, and is controlled remotely by a programmable electromagnetic field.
In a video produced by MIT, Daniela Rus and Shuhei Miyashita, who both worked on the project, explain how the robot works and talk about how it could one day serve as a useful medical tool.
