Lost Horizon Night Market

Here are a few photos I shot at last night’s amazing Lost Horizon Night Market, which took place in a remote part of Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Created by Mark Krawczuk and Kevin Balktick and organized by a crew of volunteers, Lost Horizon Night Market is a word-of-mouth participatory event featuring a series of box trucks parked along the street stretching for several of blocks, where each truck has a unique theme that is revealed once you part the curtains and enter the truck. The only way to find out the location of an event to be invited by one of the truck’s proprietors.

Truck themes included Smash Truck, Noodle Truck, Andy Warhol Truck, Bass Truck, Campfire Truck, Cuddle Truck, Black Light Truck, Hot Tub Truck (tapping water from a city fire hydrant) and many other creatively themed trucks.

This was the 5th Lost Horizon Night Market in New York City. Here’s a write-up on the third event by Jess Bruder that took place in May 2010. Last December San Francisco had their first ever Lost Horizon Night Market, which was a huge success. Several organizers of the San Francisco event flew out to New York to help out with last night’s event.
