Fast-Breathing Dog Sounds Like an Idling Motor After a Good Run With Her Human

A fast-breathing chocolate Lab named Lucy sounds like an idling motor after enjoying a day at the park with her human Eric, who says that Lucy “will breathe like this for up to 30 minutes after a good run!” Eric also pointed out that while this behavior is not common among the majority of dogs, it can happen with some young Labs.

I had already taken my dog to the vet and there is/was nothing wrong with her. My veterinarian explained to me that although it’s not very common, it’s been known for some young Labradors to breath this way for the purpose of cooling down quickly and efficiently.
