Experiment, A Platform for Crowdfunding Scientific Research

Experiment is a platform for crowdfunding scientific research. The site launched in April of 2012 with the ambitious goals of finding “a cure for cancer, a new form of energy for the future, and a manned mission to Mars.” The site allows scientists to post projects that need funding, and users can decide which projects to back. Similar to Kickstarter, a project must reach its fundraising goal before it can collect any money, but Experiment projects do not offer rewards for backers.
