Food expert Alton Brown takes on the world of fashion by walking viewers through the lost art of tying a bow tie. The Good Eats host also uses the opportunity to show the benefits of wearing a bow tie vs. a traditional tie (turns out they’re better for pilots) and how to pick out the proper style.

Here is my personal favorite style. It’s called a ‘batwing’ or a ‘diamond tip’ — sometimes both. A batwing is perfectly suitable for every day wear or evening wear. Dr. No James Bond — batwing with the dinner suit.
