Spinal Tap has re-united and will be preforming on July 7th 2007 at the Live Earth concert taking place at Wembley Stadium in London. Live Earth is a series of 7 live concerts in 7 countries which are being produced by SOS (Save Our Selves), an organization that includes Kevin Wall (LIVE 8) and Al Gore, formed help solve the climate crisis caused by global warming.

Live Earth is a monumental music event that will bring together more than 2 billion people to combat the climate crisis. Live Earth’s 24 hours of music across 7 continents will deliver a call to action and the solutions needed to answer the call. Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign to move individuals, corporations and governments to take action. Live Earth is joining with The Climate Group, Stop Climate Chaos and The Alliance for Climate Protection on this effort.

As a lead up to the concert, Rob Reiner has created a Spinal Tap sequel, which recently premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, showing what Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest), David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) have been up to since the original 1984 mockumentary “This Is Spinal Tap”. Rob Reiner reprises his role as documentary filmmaker Marty DeBergi, who in the film claims to have coined the term “global warming”.

Nigel has been raising miniature horses to race but can’t find jockeys small enough to ride them; David is now a hip-hop producer who also runs a colonic clinic; and Derek is in rehab for addiction to the Internet.

A short version of the film has been posted Revver and YouTube. The full, unedited 15 minute version can be viewed on MSN.
