According to Jim at SFist, San Francisco’s wonderful Panhandle Bandshell, which is made of recycled materials and that our friends at The Black Rock Arts Foundation worked on so hard to make a reality (see my previous post), is now being shut down.
The San Francisco Recreation & Park Department has refused a request to extend the permit for the bandshell, therefore it will cease operation in September. Alexandria Rocha has more on this story over at The San Francisco Examiner.

Are there any efforts to save the bandshell?
This is terrible. The bandshell was so cool. Is there any way to make it permanent?

It’s a little misleading to say “shut down” when it will have run it’s originally scheduled course. I live right near it and love it and will be sad to see it go, but it isn’t being “shut down” – it’s coming down at the time it was originally planned to come down – the date that has been posted on the bandshell information posters since day one.
THANK GOD..
that ugly grafitti magnet has been there for way too long.
