Pop Surrealist Street Artist Kenny Scharf Spray Paints a 2003 Kia Rio for His ‘Karbombz’ Project

Filmmaker Jesse Meeker paid a visit to the Los Angeles studio of pop surrealist street artist Kenny Scharf to have his 2003 Kia Rio undergo the Karbombz treatment. Meeker’s car is the 85th vehicle to be Karbombed, in which Scharf freehand spray paints its body. According to the artist, the whole project came about organically.

I was in Alabama doing a mural and somebody stopped by in their car and said, “will you do my car?” So I did her car and put it on Instagram and all of the sudden, it started snowball. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am, get on the road, Karbombz.

Scharf continues to post his various Karbombz to his Instagram account. Those interested in having their vehicle Karbombed should contact Scharf through his site.
