Gavin Ad on Chicken Ad

This is hilarious, Gavin Newsom is spending part of his 1.6 million dollar campaign funding running an ad (via AdSense) on my blog post about Chicken John’s SF Bay Guardian ad (where Chicken is asking Gavin for a campaign donation).

Maybe I should offer Gavin a direct ad on Laughing Squid and then just give the money to Chicken.

If I’m not mistaken, the evening news said that Chicken John as well as Josh Wolf have taken the first hurdle to qualify for the race of SF mayor.

“Quality of life crime” refers to minor street crimes such as prostitution, drug dealing, and so on. This goes hand in hand with the “broken windows theory” , which holds that once “disorder” gains a foothold on the street, quality of life crime and other crimes soon follow. While these theories and principles may apply well in situations where neighborhoods are over-run with prostitution and drug dealing, they are also often stretched to make a point in the case of homeless people. In a neighborhood where the only problem is homeless people hanging out, police will often target homeless people for minor infractions, such as sleeping on the sidewalk or possession of a milk crate or shopping cart. Such targeting of homeless people is an abuse of power in my view and is often unconstitutional, as in the Jones decision that barred LA cops from ticketing people for sleeping on skid row.
