Firefox 3 Released & Download Day 2008

Firefox 3, the latest version of the popular open source browser featuring many new features and improvements, has been officially released today. To help spread the word Mozilla has declared today Download Day 2008 where they are attempting break the Guinness World Record for the most software downloaded in a single day.

In celebration of the release of Firefox 3, hundreds of launch parties have been planned around the world.

UPDATE 1: It looks like the Spread Firefox website is having problems dealing with the traffic associated with the Download Day 2008 world record download attempt.

UPDATE 3: According to the Firefox 3 download counter, Download Day is going quite well, they are already over 2 million.

Setting the Guinness world record may be the stated goal of all this activity, but in the end that’s only a novelty. The real show is the online mass mobilization that’s taking place.

Not really excited, I use Opera, and consider it much better than Firefox. Give Opera a try, you might like it. No extensions, has everything you need right out of the box
