Amsterdam artist Eric Staller, the man behind the famous Lightmobile, has released the latest version of the Conference Bike, an ingenious 7 person bicycle, that he first starting making back in 1991. Check out this heartwarming video of it in action. If you are in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, you can rent one from Cycle Seven.
So with some laptop mounting and EV-DO router modifications, we could easily start organizing miniature, mobile BarCamp or BrainJams events. Now that’s what I call an unconference.

why does that video seem to be saying “return to the 1940’s, when seven friends could share a leisurely ride in the park”?
Cool concept, odd marketing
Wow. This is fantastic. I would love to ride one. I assumed that the steering wheel would be in the middle, for a more egalitarian ride.
I was in New York this spring with several of my students, visiting the United Nations, and on our way back to the hotel one evening we came across one of these insane vehicles. It swerved around the street insanely, forcing traffic and pedestrians to scatter, and one of my students, who was deeply interested in Thomas Hobbes’ theories on interstate politics said, “wow – that’s what happens when you try to deal with international politics democratically, isn’t it?”
I was so proud, and slightly disconcerted.
Yeah ! my videos are better! I was disappointed the seven girls didn’t come with the bike as standard.
