Buzzed Buzzer, A New Year’s Eve Noisemaker That Only Works When You’re Drunk

Buzzed Buzzer

Buzzed Buzzer is a New Year’s Eve noisemaker horn equipped with an alcohol sensor configured to only work when you’re drunk (or when you’ve swished alcohol in your mouth). It was created by Tyler DeAngelo and Sacha De’Angeli at Chicago-based ad agency Havas WW. At the Buzzed Buzzer site, they provide instructions on how you can make your own.

How it works:

Not via any kind of blood alcohol measurement.

Because the alcohol sensor isn’t the most accurate sensor in the world, all the code really does is look for the presence of alcohol – if it sees a nice spike, it sounds the alarm. So you can just swish something in your mouth and it will still work. You can always modify the code so the buzzer needs to see a lot more alcohol to sound the alarm.
