They Might Be Giants Reveal ‘Am I Awake’ Fan-Created Music Video Winners, As Selected by Judge John Hodgman
They Might Be Giants enlisted the help of “Judge” John Hodgman to choose three winners from over 150 submissions for their “Am I Awake” fan-created music video contest. Hodgman, who also assigned names to the winners, chose “Sleep Study Voyeur” by Paul and Mike Swiatek, “Don’t Say ‘Grassy Knoll,’ say ‘Grassy YES’” by Alex Italics and the puppet-fueled “Murderous Puppet Typewriters,” by Jack Fields.
Startling, original, repulsive in the most beautiful way, it engages with the lyrics without being an on-the-nose dream sequence. And the physics of puppet dismemberment are as accurate as I recall from puppet medical school.
“Am I Awake” is the first track off of the Brooklyn band’s forthcoming compilation record, Idlewild, due out May 27th, 2014.
