Silo 468, A Retired Helsinki Oil Silo That Has Been Converted into a Light Installation
Silo 468 is a retired oil silo in Helsinki that in 2012 was converted into a light installation and event venue. The 55-foot-tall silo is illuminated by 1,250 LEDs that shine through perforations in the silo’s walls. The lights are programmed to display ever-changing patterns that mimic flocks of birds. Silo 468 was designed by Lighting Design Collective.
