Profanity Pop, Solo Art Show Featuring Disney Remixed With Historic Artwork at La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles
Profanity Pop is an upcoming solo art show by artist José Rodolfo Loaiza Ontiveros at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery in Los Angeles that will feature his new collection of artwork remixing lovable Disney characters with historic artwork. The art show will open on Friday, August 1st, 2014 from 8-11 PM and be on display until Sunday, August 31st. You can view more previews from the show online at the La Luz de Jesus Gallery website.
Mythology, Religion and the representation of power have manifested in all of the great works from antiquity. With Profanity Pop, Rodolfo pays tribute to specific historical works that have inspired many generations. Universal themes are once again narrated by beloved animated characters, but in the guise of the divine and with all the fragility of martyrs. Away from the paradise of happy endings, the pastel sprinkled drama takes on a vulnerability that juxtaposes subversively with situations never similarly interpreted.
