Pier55, A Proposed Park That Sits Atop a Dock on the Hudson River in New York City
Pier55 is a fanciful new concept by the Hudson River Trust that would replace New York City’s Pier 54 with 2.7 acres of public park and performance space above the river near Manhattan’s Lower West Side.
Pier55 will bring a ‘Treasure Island’ to New York’s waterfront, providing a neighborhood amenity, regional resource, and citywide destination for recreation, great views, and inspiring outdoor cultural offerings.
The park, designed in part by design firm Heatherwick Studio landscape architect Mathews Nielsen, is slated to begin construction in 2016.
