Lightsaber Battle NYC 2011
Lori Kufner and Kevin Bracken, co-founders of urban art events collective, Newmindspace, are once again hosting the nerd-rific event, Lightsaber Battle NYC, on September 24, 2011 in downtown New York City.
Last year, hundreds of you lit up a park in a dark corner of Manhattan with our favorite luminous rods. This year, our glowing nighttime skirmish gets ratcheted up to be a bigger and brighter experience! Join us for a massive battle of Jedi vs. Sith in downtown New York City. Pick a side and use that venerable, ancient, glowing tool: the lightsaber, in the ultimate nocturnal showdown.
After successes with this event in Toronto and New York City, Newmindspace is bringing it back and better than ever. The event started out using dayglo painted cardboard tubes but has now graduated to color-changing LED lightsabers. These Lightsabers can be reserved prior to the event for $5.00 each. The event is free but the organizers warn that the lightsabers sold out before the event last year.
Newmindspace is also seeking LED hula hoopers, glowing costume wearers and other participants for the conclave performances.
