Life Size Mousetrap 2011 Tour
The Life Size Mousetrap by Mark Perez is a monumental kinetic sculpture installation inspired by the classic board game Mouse Trap. The installation does indeed replicate the Rube Goldberg-style mayhem as seen in the board game–all the way down to a two ton bank safe that is dropped from a crane on to variety of unfortunate targets. The Mousetrap has frequented San Francisco Bay Area events and has periodically toured around the country, but Perez is now developing the installation into a sustainable tour-ready package to bring it before more audiences. He’s raising funds for the project on Kickstarter.
Why is it important that we get the Life Size Mousetrap to audiences across the country? In this day of “virtual” and “digital” experiences, the Mousetrap provides an engaging, real life encounter with the physical properties that govern our world.
