Internet Archaeology, Preserving the History of the Internet
Wired Underwire has posted a collection of some interesting abandoned websites, including a promotional website for Space Jam, the Dole/Kemp campaign site from 1996, and the homepage for the Heaven’s Gate cult. In 2009, Ryder Ripps created Internet Archaeology to “explore, recover, archive and showcase the graphic artifacts found within earlier Internet Culture.” You can explore a collection of preserved graphics at Internet Archaeology, and see more amusing abandoned websites over at Wired Underwire.
