DrinkSavvy Plastic Cups and Straws Change Color When Date Rape Drugs Are Detected
DrinkSavvy is a line of plastic cups and straws created by Mike Abramson that change color when they come in contact with any of the three most common date rape drugs — GHB, Ketamine, and Rohypnol. The project was funded on Indiegogo in late 2012, and the DrinkSavvy website estimates that the unique plastic cups and straws will be shipping to backers in September 2013 before being available to the general public in early to mid 2014. After shipping the color-changing cups and straws, DrinkSavvy will work to create similar glassware, bottles, and cans and has also promised to update its drug-detecting drinkware as new date rape drugs become popular.
