Advertisers Create ‘Talking Windows’ That Deliver Ads to Public Transit Passengers Via Bone Conduction
Ad agency BBDO Germany has created “The Talking Window,” a system that transmits high-frequency vibrations to public transportation vehicle windows and uses bone conduction technology to send advertisements or other messages to passengers leaning their heads against the windows. The idea, first unveiled at the International Festival of Creativity in Cannes last month, was developed for broadcaster Sky Deutschland. According to the BBC, a spokeswoman for Sky Deutschland said the company “had yet to make a decision on whether to run the campaign,” and BBDO Germany spokesman Ulf Brychcy said “If our customer Sky Deutschland agrees, we will start with the new medium as quickly as possible. At present, this is limited to the German market. If we look into the future: everything is possible.”
