A Twitter Bot That Automatically Congratulates People Celebrating Something on Twitter
hello world, and congratulations! ????

@Congratsbot is a Twitter bot that automatically congratulates people celebrating and being congratulated for something on Twitter. The bot was created by former Twitter employee Isaac Hepworth who built it as a commentary on “Congrats Twitter,” a term referring to the tech industry habit of congratulating each other over new jobs and promotions, but Hepworth told Quartz it, “turned out to be something mostly unrelated.”
In practice the bot seems to be finding genuine life events, big and small, and adding, “an automated but heartfelt hive five” to the congratulations people are already receiving for things like births, graduations, or book deals. Users can follow the bot’s actions by seeing what tweets it favorites.
Hepworth wrote about the bot’s creation in a post on Medium.
