A Theory That the Back to the Future Trilogy Is an Elaborate Reflective Chiasmus
Netflix shared a theory by film critic Robert Lockard that claims the Back to the Future trilogy is an elaborate reflective chiasmus, meaning elements of the story are first told in order, but in the middle they reverse and repeat in the opposite order. The video includes a few examples, but Lockard created a full list of examples on his site Deja Reviewer.
The trilogy is available to stream on Netflix until October 1, 2016.
