The Grand Canyon Skywalk, the world’s highest structure, is a u-shaped, glass walkway 4000” above the valley of the Grand Canyon constructed by Hualapai Indian tribe who own the area where it was built. They had a private preview opening today and skywalk opens to the public on March 28th.
Here’s more from the BBC and photos from CNET.

Yeah, that’s a big no on my list. I’m scared of heights so there is no way. I’m getting freaked out just by looking at that graphic with the other skyscrapers (which by the way is a very eye opening graphic). Although I do look forward to seeing everyone’s pictures from the skywalk.
I can’t wait to take my kids.
What an ugly piece of construction on indian land. It’s $25 a head to walk over this very obnoxious concrete in one of the world’s jewels.
Don’t get fooled by the little drawings done that show you a pretty integration of the bridge into the surrounds, look at the real pictures:

it looks like the condos construction at hunters point.
It costs $30M, when this money could have been used for restoration of the canyon. And it was private money?!? Private money building commercial infracstructures on public land??! hhmmm… strange..
What a shame!!
I hate to rain on everyone’s parade, but I think it’s an eye sore. I would prefer my photos of the Grand Canyon, not have this thing floating in it. Good thing I know how to use Photoshop………
Fuck that!
thats friggin scary.
If it only looked like the artist rendering. I still wouldn’t pay a dime, but at least it would look better than it does. When asked on the news the opening day, what else is being offered for the tourists, the newsreporter from the area remarked, “there’s a gift shop in the planning phase, and a restraunt too.” Oh joy. What, no casino?
Nothing stops the mallification of America…..but who would have guessed it could happen in the middle of the Grand Canyon? Even the fact that Native Americans own it doesn’t excuse it from its ugliness… but how sad and ironic that the original stewards of this sacred land have succumbed to American style exploitation to make a buck. Sheesh, what next….bungee jumping?
this site is not really ready yet. They don’t have much to offer for $75 and 3 hours drive from las vegas. the skywalk only last 2-10 minutes. it is not over the main gorge. you don’t see much of the main gorge. don’t drive. many roads are not paved. you may end up spend more for the allignments.
the picture on the top is not real. It does not extend that much. there are mamy website offers real photo.
crazy sheeeeeeet dawg
It is native owned and they can do as they feel on their property and its noat ugly and I
think that was a very genius idea. For those that make negative comments its because
they are yellow about going out on it,so shup up.
